    Abstract Model

Photographs by Soroush Gharahmani, Department Chair Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Engineering at West Valley College

The assignment for this model was to create an abstract demonstrating various relationships of shapes, layers and space including incorporating voids and interceptions.  As much as this is an abstract, I still imagined human functions while creating the design as if it might be a section of an outdoor square or amphitheater space.

A Public Park - my very first model (photos by Kim)

This assignment was to create an outdoor space with at least one man made structure.  I designed a simple park with a gazebo in the center of an axial pathway design.  Marble columns and flooring on the gazebo with cobbled pavers for the pathways.  Raised planters with roses flanking the steps and more roses in planting beds edged with a cobble like curb and water features at the centers.   Benches would line the planting beds for relaxation.  Deciduous Okame Cherry trees are planted at the four corners in dense lawn for shaded activities such as picnics. Their spring bloom, orange fall foliage and reddish bark provide year round interest.

Jewelry wire was used to imitate the custom wrought iron roof of the gazebo.
